Healing a coast requires a unified front. MyKetam Scylla is driven by a dedicated team of researchers, engineers, and field practitioners, all sharing the same heartbeat.
The Science
The people who design protocols, validate methods, and shape the research foundation of our work.
Technical Anchor, Aquatic Biotechnology
Associate Professor at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and a registered Professional Technologist with MBOT. With over 100 publications in aquatic biotechnology, genomics, and aquaculture, he anchors the science behind our crab cultivation and ecosystem monitoring.
Associate Professor at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and a registered Professional Technologist (Ts.) with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). Dr. Khor specialises in aquatic biotechnology, environmental biology, fishery, and aquaculture, with research focused on how aquatic species respond, genomically and physiologically, to environmental stress.
His work extends internationally as a visiting researcher at Shanghai Ocean University (China), Kasetsart University (Thailand), and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN, Indonesia). He has also served as Lead Consultant for DHI Sdn. Bhd., evaluating the impact of environmental pollutants on bivalves and crustaceans.
With over 100 scholarly publications and his role as Program Lead at UMT's Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries, he brings a proven record of turning complex science into real-world aquaculture and environmental practice.
Scientific Contributor, Resource Sustainability
Senior Lecturer and Program Lead of Resource Sustainability at UMT's Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries. His pioneering work describing new hybrid crab groups in the equatorial region directly supports our goal of building resilient, high-yield domestic broodstock.
Senior Lecturer, Researcher, and Program Lead of Resource Sustainability at the Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries (AKUATROP), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. With a Master's and PhD in Aquaculture from UMT and a postdoctoral fellowship at Shantou University (China), Dr. Fazhan specialises in aquatic species ecology and biological systems within tropical environments.
He is recognised for his work on aquatic biodiversity and organismal adaptation, most notably the successful description of new hybrid crab groups in the equatorial region, a breakthrough directly relevant to establishing high-yield, domestic broodstock.
His dual expertise in molecular biology and resource sustainability underpins our approach to broodstock health, water quality, and long-term ecological viability.
The Practice
The people who turn principles into daily practice, in the water, in the systems, and on the coast.
Nature-based Solutions, Sustainable Practice
A techno-commercial specialist in nature-based solutions and community stewardship, with experience spanning WWF, the FAO, and his own crab aquaculture venture. He has spent his career proving that sustainable practice and ecological integrity belong at the centre of aquaculture, not the edge.
Chee Weng brings a multi-disciplinary background across research, nature conservation, and sustainable aquaculture, having worked with WWF, Fonterra, Texchem, and others. He holds a BSc Honours in Microbiology from the National University of Singapore and an MSc in Fisheries Biology from Buckingham University (UK), earned on an ODA Scholarship.
He has led community field operations in Labutta, Myanmar, working on ecosystem monitoring, environmental education, and capacity building for sustainable stewardship. In 2021 he co-founded Crab Universe Sdn. Bhd., deepening his expertise in water quality management, biological remediation, and community-integrated environmental work.
In 2023 he presented "Towards Sustainability in Soft-shell Crab Production" at an FAO technical workshop. Across every programme, he has championed nature-based solutions and ecological integrity, the same philosophy that drives MyKetam Scylla.
Systems and Monitoring Engineer
A technical specialist with a double degree in Mechatronic Engineering and Computer Science. He designs the environmental monitoring systems, automated sensors, and data infrastructure behind our AI-supported mangrove and crab health monitoring.
Sor Chin Siang holds a double degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronic) and Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), a fusion of mechanical precision and computational intelligence that he applies to environmental monitoring systems for aquatic environments.
He specialises in the technical architecture of water quality monitoring: environmental sensing, automated data collection, and system control. At MyKetam Scylla, his work makes our monitoring and aeration infrastructure run as high-efficiency, technology-driven systems.
His engineering forms the backbone of the AI models we use to track mangrove health and crab behaviour at a scale human observation alone cannot reach.
The science and the practice.
One coast. One heartbeat.
